Volunteer meet @ Mahadji Shinde School: July 2010

On 3 July 2010, GREAT Foundation kick started third year of Pehel: volunteer initiative. Old volunteers coulped with new one’s continued to be torch bearers of GREAT foundation’s vision “Ignite the future of a child”.

The Volunteer meet covered the following:

Past Achievements:

1. GREAT Foundation effort in 2009-10: The 10th std school results have recorded an increase (the number of students passed increased). The effort of both School authorities and GREAT Foundation has paid off over the past year. On an average the school results have improved in the range of 10-15% with a significant change in the English and Math pass percentage. We hope to achieve the same level or higher results in the coming year.

What next:

1. GREAT has tied up with Akanksha for teaching aids and material that will be used extensively to teach Math, English and Personality development. During the meeting, Dr Kirpal discussed the teaching methodology with the volunteers and increased need to follow the set system. New volunteers will undergo an orientation session before joining as a volunteer.

2. Rohini Khare, Founder Rays Charitable Trust will teach students how to make purses and bags thereafter which they will be sold in a Exhibition held at Bund Garden.

3. Mrs Joshi, Homemaker will read story books to Primary school students once a week.

4. Increase usage of e-learning techniques with the children

5. Hold drawing competiton across 3 schools in 2010-11

6. Maintain continuity of classes and ensure a successful academic year 2010-11.
